Recently I was contacted by a member involved in a great holiday program supporting Clearbrook, a recognized leader in the field of assisting those with developmental disabilities with personalized day training, employment, residential, and clinical services at more than 45 locations in the Chicagoland area.
The program is called Clearbrook's Old Holiday Lights Recycling program.
Available at three convenient drop off locations, Clearbrook’s Old Holiday Lights Recycling program offers the community a more eco-friendly way to dispose of old light strands – even broken ones.
Plus, proceeds from sales of the old light strands benefit Clearbrook, which provides programs and services to more than 3,400 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as their families.
Clearbrook has teamed up with Acme Refining to recycle the old holiday lights. Lights can be dropped off any time between November 21 and January 15 in collection bins located at three Clearbrook facilites, including:
- Getz Building, 746 S. Vermont, Palatine
- Riley Building, 1425 Payne, Schaumburg
- Resale Shop, 1815 W. Central, Arlington Heights
For more information about Clearbrook’s Old Holiday Lights Recycling program contact Lauren Schwaderer at (847) 991-2805 or visit www.Clearbrook.org.
I have been proud to support Clearbrook over the years, especially when looking for furniture or items for my various college apartments, they always had AMAZING pieces for a low price and everything goes to a very good cause.
So when you break out those holiday lights and find that a few might be broken or that you just have too many, don't throw them away, bring them to one of the local locations to donate!
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
