Sure, you're probably wondering what that title even means...well I barely do either.
Catching my eye when browsing USA Today online was an article about Tom Cruise playing a superstar devotee of hair-band excess in next years big-screen version of a popular Broadway musical focusing on the '80s, 'Rock of Ages'.
Now I'll agree Tom was pretty awesome as Les Grossman in 'Tropic Thunder" a few years back, but playing a mashup of "Axl Rose, Keith Richards and Jim Morrison"...isn't that a train wreck?
Hopefully it is as it just got me SUPER interested in a movie I knew zero about before the article.
According to the USA Today article, Tom's first scene involves him singing Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar On Me" and he even belts out Bon Jovi's "Wanted: Dead or Alive".
That's an amazing amount of awesome if it actually works out, I'm not a huge TC fan, but if he destroys those songs, I'm sold.
'Rock of Ages' has a huge amount of star power behind it after Cruise with Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin, Julianne Hough, Paul Giamatti, Mary J. Blidge, Catherine Zeta-Jones and more.
The solid set of '80s songs doesn't hurt either with Styx, Journey, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, Poison and Asia.
If this movie doesn't sound like a Friday night at a college bar, I don't know what does (I'm looking at you Starbusters from my days at NIU).
They just need a splash of Eddie Money and we are set!
