36th Arlington Heights Frontier Days...June 30th through July 4th!

With June sneaking up on us after the winter/spring insanity, it means that the summer festival season is upon us.

Being that I've lived a majority of my teenage/adult life in Arlington Heights, one thing that will always be a solid memory is Frontier Days.

Frontier Days was "the" place to hang out in the summer during those influential teenage years when the usual favorite hang out spots tended to be Randhurst Mall (when it was still open), the General Cinemas Theater, or Photo's.

In those younger years, I never really cared about who was performing at the fest, just what rides were back from the year before and to see/be seen by classmates or local friends.

Now that I'm (WAY) past that age, I'm realizing how solid the musical lineup is year in and year out.  There is always a "somebody" that interests me in checking out since it's down the street from my parents house and this year doesn't disappoint!

Last year, I checked out Starship (oh we all know "We Built This City") and in 2009, Blues Traveler was there ("Hook" and "Run-Around" were staples on my cassette player in my younger years).

Gin Blossoms

Gin Blossoms-Friday, July 1st

But this year in my mind takes the cake, sure I'm biased as Gin Blossoms are probably one of my all-time favorite bands and with Kansas, Lonestar, Lee Greenwood, and finally local favorites American English playing on the 4th...in my mind there is no bad night to check out.

And if you are planning on having kiddies in tow, there is plenty of carnival rides ($22 for an unlimited bracelet), food, and attractions that will be of interest to them.

Sure, most of the Main Stage acts close out around 10pm, but there is plenty of fun and drinks to have afterwards at the Frontier Stage if you don't want to head home just yet.

Frontier Days has plenty for everyone, it's a staple in everyone's summer plans in Arlington Heights/surrounding suburbs and I'm sure to be there (along with the rest of the city) to check out Gin Blossoms on Friday the 1st!

Oh summer, how happy am I that you are finally here!
