With the 10th season of FOX's popular show American Idol in full swing with brand new hosts Steven Tyler (of Aerosmith) and Jennifer Lopez joining Randy "Yea Dawg" Jackson, it's looking like the NW suburbs of Chicago are becoming a hot bed of singing superstars.
This past Wednesday, Wheeling native Haley Reinhart made it to the top 24 Hollywood round after tackling the Cirque du Soleil LOVE stage.
The 20-year old Harper College student doesn't have the classic midwest story that Lee DeWyze had last year, but with her experience from previously auditioning and solid stage presence, Haley could make a similar splash.
Not being an avid AI viewer, I'm like any hometown fan and more excited about local kids hitting it big, than the actual competition.
It seems like the past few years with Glee, Jennifer Morrison (Cameron on FOX's House), Lee DeWyze, and many others hitting the spotlight, that a lot of local talent is coming up win.
Now will I end up watching an episode of American Idol this season, probably not, but I'll be cheering on Haley and Tatynisa (from Aurora) so Chicagoland can bring another American Idol crown home!
