When I read this headline on the Daily Herald website this morning, it struck me with a laugh...not just any laugh, but a loud one.
This being during work hours, a few people came over to see what all the commotion I was making was about. It didn't disappoint when they saw what I was laughing at.
It seems that this fine, young gentleman is aiming high at least when it comes to driving over unsuspecting homeowners lawns...
This coupled with this recent headline from Buffalo Grove...
What is it with all these people from the northwest suburbs taking out their rage and frustrations on lawns & mailboxes? Is it a beef with the United States Postal Service or hatred for the local neighborhood lawn care services?
Maybe it's even some twisted "New Years Resolution"...
At the end of the day, both of the drivers were between 19 and 20 years old, used someone else's car, and most likely were intoxicated.
Not being much older, driving over multiple people's lawns, let alone one, ever crossed my mind whenever I was out joyriding with friends.
Yes, we did go dumpster diving for fun items that people were throwing away on Sunday nights once in awhile (sometimes involving throwing light fixtures at stop signs or tieing lawn mowers to my friends bumper and dragging it down a side street), but we never went as far as some of these "young, whipper-snappers" do.
So call me old or lame or a loser, but at least I'm not going to face 18 or 33 counts of criminal damage that probably would put me in debt till I'm 30.
(P.S. I did knock over a stoplight in Wheeling with my mom's car a month after I received my license when I was 16, so I did my fair share of property damage)
