Game of Thrones Winners and Losers: High Sparrow

#10 Loser: Sansa

Despite the fact that she’s been promised to Ramsay “Snow” Bolton, I don’t think Sansa’s the worst of the losers. In fact, I think she might actually wind up a winner. It all depends on where you think Sansa’s head is at. If she’s going into this blind and with no plan, she could wind up being hunted in the woods like a doe. If she does have a plan (which I suspect she does), she could wind up ruling Winterfell again (or at least Moat Cailin), making her the most powerful non-bastard Stark in Westeros. Eat it, Rickon.
It’s hard not to look at this week’s Game of Thrones winners and losers and think, yup, all of this is going to be reversed in a few weeks’ time. Those who are up will be down, and those who are down will be up. There were a lot of false failures and successes this... Read more »

Game of Thrones recap: High Sparrow

Game of Thrones recap: High Sparrow
In previous episodes, we’ve seen some smalls ways in which Game of Thrones, the show, is diverging from the books. Certain minor characters have been omitted. Some have been killed on the show while they’re alive and well in the books, and vice versa. Then there was the whole thing that was supposed to happen... Read more »

Summer Movie Forecast 2015

Summer Movie Forecast 2015
With Avengers: Age of Ultron just around the corner, we are officially entering my favorite movie time of year: Summer! I love prestige Oscar pics as much as anyone, but there’s nothing quite like the anticipation and huge expectations that surround big studio releases in the summertime. Sure, many of these movies fail to live... Game of Thrones Winners and Losers: The House of Black and White

#10 Loser: Arya

She stepped foot on Braavos thinking things were about to break her way. She wasn’t quite right. However, now she’s in the House of Black and White with A Man, and he is going to teach her his ways. Things could be better for Arya, but they could be way worse.
We are all Game of Thrones winners this week because of Jaime in his Westerosi-style bomber jacket. He has given us a gift and we must never forget it. Also, we saw Arya reunite with an old friend, Sansa continue to be sullen and mysterious, and Jon Snow get a promotion. Robb Stark, however, is... Read more »

Game of Thrones recap: The House of Black and White

Game of Thrones recap: The House of Black and White
This title is making me think of black and white cookies. I’m not sure why that’s important, BUT IT IS. This week we met some new friends, touched base with some old ones, and said goodbye to that one guy we kept mistaking for Grey Worm. Let’s check in with everyone, shall we? Braavos: Arya... Game of Thrones Winners and Losers: The Wars to Come

#10 Loser: Samwell Tarly

He’s a man of the Night’s Watch, who is never supposed to marry. But now he’s got himself a Wall wife in Gilly, and she seems to have settled right into her role of nagging sitcom spouse.
In the Hammervision Game of Thrones winners and losers post, either you win or you lose. It’s that simple. This week was pretty even. Not a lot of clear winners and losers. I suppose that comes with this being a setup episode. That said, there are a lot of losers in this post who have... Read more »

Game of Thrones season premiere review: The Wars to Come

Game of Thrones season premiere review: The Wars to Come
We’re back in Westeros for the fifth season! Get ready for the next ten weeks to fly faster than the blink of drunk Tyrion’s eye. N.B. I just want to point out that I have read all five books in the Song of Ice and Fire series, but I’ve only read them once and I... Read more »

This is how rumors get started

This is how rumors get started
This morning, when I was only about a quarter of a cup deep into my first cup of coffee, I saw the status update, “Lauren Hill died.” Immediately I was like, “WHAAA?” I think that’s actually literally what I wrote under the post. Something like that. I start making plans to listen to my Fugees... Read more »

Family Movie Night Vol. 2

Family Movie Night Vol. 2
With everyone getting busier and schedules filling up as the year progresses, we didn’t knock out too many movies in February and March, so it made sense to do away with the monthly format and just combine the two months for maximum impact. There’s really no rhyme or reason to any of these flicks (that’s... Furiously Ranking All Seven Fast & Furious Movies

Furiously Ranking All Seven Fast & Furious Movies
About a month ago, I took it upon myself to re-watch all six previous films in the Fast & Furious franchise in preparation for this weekend’s much-anticipated (by me at least) release of Furious 7. The Fast & Furious movies aren’t perfect, and all of them are dumb in varying degrees, but I find myself... Read more »
