I was on WGN Radio this weekend with Dave Plier. You can listen to our conversation here. It was 2:30 in the morning. Go easy on me.
One thing we discussed was binge watching TV shows in the summer. He and his wife are catching up on "adult" shows, like Orange is the New Black and 24. But with the kids, they're going back in time and watching Bewitched.
They've done this for the past few years, letting the kids choose which classic show they'd like to binge on for the summer. They've watched The Brady Bunch and Gilligan's Island, among others.
I love this idea. There are so many shows from my youth that I'd love to revisit (I don't feel a super strong tie to the classic shows of my parents' youth. I used to watch them on Nick at Nite, but...eh. Except The Patty Duke Show). I have a six-year-old and a three-year-old, so we'll have to wait for The X-Files, probably, but I might be able to start with The Cosby Show or Family Ties or Full House.
Maybe it's the narcissistic child-of-Baby-Boomers in me, but I am hell bent on exposing my kids to all the shit I liked when I was younger.
Have you done this with your kids? Which old shows have they taken to like a football to Marcia's nose?
