I finished my 40 bags in 40 days task early today, so that's something. I had scheduled the pantry for a Thursday because we don't have any scheduled classes or anything on Thursday, and I figured it would be a big task that would take me all morning. It took about 40 minutes.
The funny thing about this exercise is that, while my drawers and closets (the things hidden from the public) are getting neater and more organized, the rest of the house is no cleaner. I guess that's one of the nice things about doing everything in one fell swoop -- you get that moment of tranquility, the moment where the entire house is perfect at one time. I'm hoping that will come for me at the end of the 40 days, but it's going to take some doing.
So, yesterday (Day 7) was not a great one for filling up bags. I had to clean out the hutch in the dining room, which I did fairly recently. I got rid of a few things, but mostly I just made a pact with myself to burn all of the candles to the ground before buying any new ones.
And today was the aforementioned pantry. There were some things in there that expired in 2012, but nothing much older than that, which I consider a victory! Now I just have to figure out a way to use the agave nectar and coconut oil that I bought while getting my Goop on in 2013. Also, I am not allowed to buy any more beans until I use the ones I have. Pasta, same deal.
Click on the gallery to see all the scents in my candle cache and the before and after pictures of my pantry, which is really just a converted broom closet (that is now a pantry/broom closet. I need to find a new home for the vacuum and accessories).
