Chicago Holiday Theatre: A Sack Full of Coal

Chicago Holiday Theatre: A Sack Full of Coal

Chicago Literati did a great rundown of holiday theater productions in Chicago. (I can attest to Klingon Christmas Carol. We saw it last year and it is good times.)

I have one more to add:

Who: Whisky Wry Productions, a company founded by Andrew Daar, Nick Enquist, Kalah Mazac, Courtney McCormack, and Ryan VenHuizen, who all met and fell in comedic love at the Second City Training Center.

What: A Sack Full of Coal, a raucous, hour-long romp that delves into all aspects of the holiday season -- from Krampus to Hanukkah to how even crazy cat ladies need love on Christmas. The show stars Renee Barry, Sarah Blantz, David Cocks, Justin Hamby, John Martin, and Amy Wellman, who all acquit themselves nicely.

When: Saturday, December 7 & 14 at 7:30 PM

Where: Gorilla Tango Theatre (an 80-seat venue known mostly for its burlesque shows, at least that's why I know it, don't ask), 1919 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago. We drove in from parts northwest and there was plenty of street parking. Also there is a cash bar with beer and wine, if that's your jam.

Why: Because you like to laugh. Because you believe deeply in the existence of Krampus.

How: Go there (or go here) and purchase tickets for $15. Enjoy.
