I love fall. And a big part of the reason I love fall is because I love a fresh, spanking new TV season (suck on that, pumpkin lattes). For the past few years, John and I have shouldered the burden of watching every single pilot for every single new show as it airs and then giving you good folks our quick assessment of said pilot. This year is no different. This year we plan to sit through all the procedurals and the Robin Williams show and that horrible looking Shelly Long/Jeff Garlin vehicle that's popping up on billboards all over the suburbs. Because we care. And we're masochists.
But it's a good idea to know what we're in for, to be prepared for the amount of pain we're about to endure, so I'm going to do a quick rundown of what fancily packaged tripe each network plans on feeding us this season.
Now, if you're not watching New Girl, I don't want to know you. That show comes back for its third season on Tuesday. Alert your DVRs accordingly.
New Girl is flanked by a few other returning comedies, i.e. Raising Hope (which I stopped watching last season) and The Mindy Project (which had a strong end to its freshman season, but that's just, like, my opinion, man).
Pretty much beyond those Tuesday night comedies and the odd Simpsons episode I remember to catch, my dial stays far away from FOX. I don't watch any of its reality shows or Glee or...whatever else is on FOX right now (I know a lot of people like Bob's Burgers, and good for them). Will any of the new shows find their way into my DVR rotation? Only time will tell. But, keeping it real, probably not.
