Set Your DVR - The Killing

I had lofty goals to recap the two-hour season premiere of AMC's The Killing (which airs again tonight at 8 PM), but then the baby woke up and I fell asleep and Butler showed up (barely) for the NCAA Finals and I didn't finish the episode until Tuesday and then American Idol, so bah.
But I definitely wanted to put it out there (you can pick it up, put it down, whatever you want to do) that The Killing is off to a great start.
If you like the suspense of 24, the gritty realness of The Wire, and the "law" part of Law & Order, then you need to check out The Killing and join all the people who are trying to figure out who killed Rosie Larsen.
The show stars the lady who played the twins sisters who were married to Joey Henrickson and his dad on Big Love as a "trying-to-retire" homicide officer in Seattle.  She somehow manages to pull off dourness and concern and competence in every scene.
The Killing airs on AMC on Sunday nights at 8:00.  Since basically every show AMC tosses up onto the airwaves (Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead) turns into a water cooler conversation, you might want to watch it just to make friends.  Oh, and because it's quite good.
