Movie Review - Jackass 3D (***)

Jackass 3D.  94 mins.  R.  Directed by Jeff Tremaine.  Starring Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Wee Man, Chris Pontius, and Steve-O.
To be honest, I'm not sure how to even review Jackass 3D.  It's not really a movie per se - more like a series of sick/funny stunts that no person should ever willingly perform.  This being the third Jackass movie, the audience knows who they are at this point.  I've seen them all now, and, apart from the added three-dimension (which is only occasionally used), this one's more of the same.  Some of the bits work (the "Sweatsuit Cocktail" had me laughing hysterically and wanting to puke, all in the same breath), some don't (usually whenever Johnny Knoxville slaps on the old age make-up), but there's a rambunctious energy to the movie and a camaraderie among its key players that helps carry it along.  The use of slow-mo to capture many of the physical beatings is awesome - every ounce of pain is visually captured when, say, someone is slapped in the face by a giant fish.  The opening credits are great, and really set the movie off on the right tone.  Jackass 3D is an exhausting experience though.  It's only 90 minutes long, but it wears out its welcome by the end.  Like the other two Jackass movies, I was ready to stop around the one hour mark.  Still, for stupid Friday night entertainment, Jackass 3D fits the bill.
