TV Review - $#*! My Dad Says ("Pilot")

Airs: Thursdays at 8:30/7:30c on CBS

Genre: Sitcom

The Set-Up: After being fired from his job writing for a men's magazine, Henry (Jonathan Sadowski) moves in with his cranky, shotgun-wielding, outspoken dad, Ed (William Shatner).  Based on the popular Twitter feed.

The Good: It's only a half-hour.  This line: "If it looks like manure and smells like manure, it's either Wolf Blitzer or manure."

The Bad: Everything else.  The jokes are lame and obvious, with set-ups that can be seen a mile away and punchlines that never arrive.  The emotional moments are handled poorly - especially the awkward scene where Ed gazes longingly at the record player playing a song that he and his ex-wife used to dance to.  The main set, Ed's living room, is cluttered with too much furniture and has a big chair in the middle that gets in everyone's way.

The Verdict: Twitter may be great and all, but I don't think Hollywood should rely on it as source material for television programming.  I'm calling this $#*! That CBS Puts On Air And Expects Idiots To Watch.  * star.
