Chicago Film Events - 8/19/10

If you're looking to escape the heat, there are a few movie events in which you can partake this evening...

Looking for a great girls' night out (or do you need to butter up your girlfriend or wife for some reason)?  Or maybe you're just a guy standing in front of a movie about a girl who is trying to find herself through food, meditation, and sex with Javiar Bardem asking her to love him.  Gold Class Cinemas in Bolingbrook and South Barrington are hosting an Eat Pray Love special event every Wednesday and Thursday in August that includes the movie ticket, a cooking demonstration, food inspired by the film, drinks, and more.  Click here for pricing and reservation details.
Or maybe you like your cinema more slapdash and risky?  If so, you might want to check out the 48 Hour Film Project screening at the Landmark Century Centre Theater on Clark.  The filmmakers were given 48 hours to complete a short film, and tonight and tomorrow they will be presenting their masterpieces to the world (and a panel of judges).
