The Villain in the Next Batman Movie Is...

This is a lot of he-said-she-said speculative what-nottery, but FirstShowing.net is reporting that allegedly there exists a casting grid for the next Batman movie and allegedly the character The Riddler appears on said casting grid next to the name "Joseph Gordon-Levitt" and the word "Interested."

I am very, very, very excited if this is true.  The former kid from Third Rock From the Sun has become quite the excellent little actor.  If you've never seen it, you must check him out in The Lookout.  On top of that, you can find JGL in theaters now as Leonardo DiCaprio's right hand man in Christopher Nolan's Inception.
Now it remains to be seen...Which OTHER Inception actors will find roles in the new Batman movie?  Nolan loves to cast the same actors over and over again.  I'd like him to find a place to include Guy Pierce in the movie, who wasn't in Inception, but who was in Memento.
Another question: Which other Batman villains would you like to see the new series highlight and which actors should play which roles?  I'd really like to see Catwoman brought in (especially because Bruce Wayne finds himself unattached romantically at the beginning of the next movie), but I'm having a horrible time thinking of an actress with the right feel to play her.
Your thoughts?

  • Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the penguin. If MI3 taught us anything it is that Mr. Hoffman is one bad ass villain.

  • In reply to jjhammerle:

I could get behind that for sure.

And, by the way, M:I3 taught us way more than that. I'm not sure what, exactly, but I'm sure John could write a thesis about it.

I don't like the PSH pick for Penguin. Mostly because I don't think Penguin should be the villain. I like JGL as the Riddler. And just had a bout of inspiration for Catwoman, if they go that route. What about Rebecca Hall?

  • In reply to Hammer:

Oooh. I like the Rebecca Hall choice. Not bad.

I'm going out on a limb here:

Mad Hatter played by Joe Pantilliano from "Momento." It's the smile in his iMDb pictures that says it would work.

Black Mask played by Leo DCap. A crime boss who takes over the mob while wearing a head covering black skull mask and goes after Bruce Wayne instead of Batman would fit in the Nolanverse.

Hush played by Hugh Jackman. Another childhood friend of Bruce Wayne's who now is the "anti-Batman." He goes after Bruce and Bats at the same time.

  • In reply to JReed:

I support all of these suggestions. Joey Pants would make a great Mad Hatter.
