Marathon of Healthy Habits Challenge

Week 1 of the Marathon of Healthy Habits Challenge has started on the right foot with 47 challengers that have been put into 3-4 person teams.  Challengers were able to get to know each other on the closed facebook group by sharing their concerns, challenges, and goals.  The teams were encouraged to develop their own name for their team.

Challengers came up with these creative names for their team:

For the Marathon of Healthy Habits Challenge, teams were encouraged to contact each other and start that team building process.  As I have said before, no one should feel alone in this healthy lifestyle change.  Therefore, we have the support of the entire group and the support of the smaller teams.

Challengers have been working on tracking/journal their food, losing or maintaining weight, saying positive daily affirmations (examples of those posts are down below on this blog post), getting in at least 10 minutes of activity every day, and completing the mini challenge.  The mini challenge for the Marathon of Healthy Habits Challenge was to swap recipes by posting at least 3 different ones in the facebook group and trying at least 2 different recipes for the week.

On Wednesday, I set up a Google Hang Out party for the Marathon of Healthy Habits Challenge.  This was my first time doing a Google Hang Out and two other challengers (Roxanne and Jo-Anne) were able to join me for the video chat. You can view that video chat here:

I hope to have more Google Hang Out Parties as the challenge progresses. I believe it will be a wonderful addition to supporting establishing healthy habits.

Challengers were given a chart to keep track of points they earned each day and then at the end of the week they reported to their team captain their points.  All teams did wonderful and I am so proud of them.  I remind all the challengers that habits take time to establish and don't give up because we are here to support each other.
