This Saturday I'm ready for my 5K run in Bloomingdale, Illinois for the April Fool's 5K. Proceeds go to benefit Stepping Stones for Women of Domestic Violence and is hosted by Ducat Chiropractic and Sports Medicine. This 5K run is closed but maybe you would like to cheer everyone on at the finish line.
I started training for this 5K run in January with the couch to 5K app (C25K) on my phone. I'm proud of myself to be able to run for 30 minutes with out stopping. I never thought of myself as runner or athlete until I started training for this 5K run.
Each month this year I have been part of a virtual 5K run that facebook fan page named Sara use it 2 lose it has organized. Virtual means that everyone signed up runs on the same day no matter where they live and reports their times to Sara. I feel such a great sense of accomplishment with these monthly events because I have seen improvements.

As I said I never thought I would enjoy running or call myself an athlete until I started training for a 5K run of my own. I have alot to learn but I am well on my way. I suggest you look up a local 5K run and register for it. My C25K app is through Active and their site you can search upcoming runs in your area.
