Third place: Chicago's Real Law Blog: 15 reasons why Chicago is the best place in the U.S. to be a lawyer
Why: First of all, few people write headlines better than Michael. They're always concise and provocative. The post itself is a great example of how to write a "list" post that contains insightful, interesting information.
Second place: Geek Girl Chicago Facebook's Fake Account Purge: The Cosplay Perspective
Why: Lauren's post could easily have been a rant against the evil ways of Facebook. Instead it's an even-handed look at what happened, why it happened and how to fix it. She pours a lot of information into the post but it never seems like too much.
First place: Mary Tyler Mom: Adoption 101: The Visit Ends
Why: Sheila is a master storyteller, a brilliant writer and a fearless blogger. We knew this from Donna's Cancer Story but she reasserts herself with this account of meeting a woman (and her family) whose baby she and her husband hoped to adopt. This particular post covers the end of their visit, and what happens when it's clear they've made a grave mistake. There's no sugarcoating what happens, you get a sense of the fear and danger involved. The entire series is a must-read.
