I'm still full from last night's visit to Girl & the Goat, 809 W. Randolph St., Chicago. Our server wisely recommended that my wife and I reduce the number of dishes we tried to order. We did. It was still too much food.
Happily, it was too much very good food, but one dish stood out supreme to me – the wood-grilled broccoli.
I have always loved broccoli. By itself steamed. With cheese. In a casserole. In a stir fry. It has always been my favorite vegetable. And Girl & the Goat executive chef Stephanie Izard has taken my favorite vegetable and turned it into green nirvana with the additions of a grill, rice crispies and blue cheese. Grilled broccoli with small bites of ricey crispiness served over a wonderful and tangy sauce. Heavenly.
And if I were any type of cook, I could even make it myself since Izard provided the recipe to MarthaStewart.com.
As I am not, I suppose I'll just need to go back again.
