The Bears need a new middle linebacker after the departure of Brian Urlacher. They might have to look no further than the United Center after Kirk Hinrich showed what he was capable of during the Bulls' 101-97 victory over the Miami Heat, breaking the Heat's 27-game winning streak.
Take a look at the gif below, which I "borrowed" from a USA Today article on the incident:
That's right. Hinrich took down LeBron James, who - last time I checked - has the strength of at least three Kirk Hinrichses and two Nate Robinsons. Just look at Hinrich's tackling form! Seriously, look at it.
Okay, so maybe it's not so pretty, but it got the job done. And doesn't that fit the billing of a Chicago Bears linebacker? Not only that, he got into the mind of his opponent. LeBron had the following to say about the incident in an ESPN story on Lebron's frustrations:
First of all, Kirk Hinrich in the first quarter basically grabbed me with two hands and brought me to the ground. The last one, Taj Gibson was able to collar me around my shoulder and bring me to the ground. Those are not defensive ... those are not basketball plays.
That's right, LeBron, it wasn't a basketball play. It was a football play. It was a middle linebacker play.
You don't need Brian Urlacher anymore, Chicago. You now have Kirk Hinrich.
