Paraplegic Welcomed Home to Bill Withers' Lean On Me After Tragedy But She NEVER Expected This

On November 9, 2014, a suspected drunk driver almost took my life. I am that paraplegic. And this is my story.  There is so much more to tell, but for now, I will leave you with this.

In recent years and from recent posts, you can probably tell that my heart has grown in its desire to serve the poor.  As a result of the crash, I have received overwhelming love and support from so many and I want to give back in any way I can. This year, I was planning on going with my sister and brother-in-law to Tanzania where they serve in the IOP Program.  But, because of the car crash and the severe injuries I sustained, I  was not in a place in my recovery where I could go. I was extremely disappointed, as you can imagine.  And because of my specific medical needs, it is highly unlikely I will be able to go next year either.

If you are looking for a charity to support this holiday season, please consider this one: IOP (Ilula Orphan Program). It makes my heart happy to know that I can advocate for a program I was not able to witness just yet. But I am hoping against hope that some day, I will be able to go.

Also, for my one year anniversary since the crash, with the help of a friend, I started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for medical bills. I am donating 25% of the proceeds directly to MADD- Mother's Against Drunk Driving. I hope my donation will contribute in some way to educating others on the devastating consequences of driving while intoxicated. While I long for the day where I will be able to go to Tanzania with my sister and brother-in-law, for now, I am focused solely on recovery.  It is a full-time job.

Whatever you feel is on your heart to give is greatly appreciated.  There is no obligation.  If you believe in my cause, but cannot donate at this time, consider sharing this link with others.
