It's so easy to get washed up in insecurities, and as a result to want to hide in shame. I know when this happens, it's easy to become self-focused, and forget amidst the struggle what we were made for. We were made for heaven, not for the momentary struggles that seem so paramount at the time. We were made for so much more than what is happening right now. So much more.
It is just a moment in time. And whatever momentary troubles we are facing, just remember, "this too shall pass." Focus on what is unseen, not what is seen.
I love the part in the song that says: "You know you're made for more, so don't be afraid to move, your faith is all it takes in you, you can walk on the water too."
I think of a quote my father always said and that has stuck with me over the years: "No one can do for you that which you can do for yourself."
I also think of this scripture:
35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.”36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat.B)" style="font-size: 0.65em; font-weight: bold; vertical-align: top;"> There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
41 They were terrified and asked each other, “ Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
While the disciples became focused on their own safety while in the boat, Jesus slept in peace because he trusted his God. He
also knew the power that lay at his disposal. Yet, the disciples still questioned what power Jesus had. It took many miracles like this one to convince them.
"He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."
Britt Nicole's "Walk on the Water" Lyrics:
So what are you waiting for?
What do you have to lose?
Your insecurities try to alter you
You know you're made for more
So don't be afraid to move
Your faith is all
It takes in you
You can walk on the water too
So get out
And let your fear fall to the ground
No time to waste
Don't you turn around and miss out
Everything you were made for
I know you're not sure
So you play it safe
Try to run away
If you take that first step
Into the unknown
He won't let you go
Even when a storm hits
Even when you're broken
Even when your heart is telling you, telling you to give up
When your hope is stolen
You can't see where you're going
You don't have to be afraid
So what are you waiting for?
