Getting Rid Of "Drama"

I realized lately that I seem to be getting caught up in drama. Some of it is my own drama and some of it is drama that involves other people and then there is a third type of drama that seems to be concerning me also: drama that doesn’t involve me at all.

There is a certain amount of drama that goes with life. How we handle it though, is entirely up to us. A friend of mine told me recently, “It ain't about me and I don’t have to let anyone else being nuts make me more nuts than I already am.” While funny, he does make an interesting point.

Recently I got caught up in a debate in something where I wasn’t involved, wasn’t close to either of the people, and the outcome had no lasting effect on my life.

So why was I caught up in it? Because it was easy. It had all the makings of a made-for-TV movie. The problem is that it’s none of my business and I have better things to do with my time.

So if I make a conscious effort to cut out other people’s drama then how do I handle my own? You know, the stuff I can’t just ignore. Well, that’s a little trickier than just ignoring it because these issues actually have to be dealt with. There are people that are in my life that I have to get along with. I need to be the light of God and be a better representative for Him.

I need to lean on God when I start getting stressed and feeding the drama. If I trust Him, I won’t be so stressed out.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in The Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.

I saw a picture the other day. I don’t know who the author is or I would give them credit.

This is really something that I needed to see. I also need to be reminded that God has called us to love. If I am truly living out God’s Word then I need to do a better job of trusting Him and following His commands.

John 13:34-35 “A new command I give you: Love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

So simple yet how often overlooked.

I know there are relationships that need to heal, time needs to pass, and some changes need to be made. I know I am far from the man that God has called me to be but I’m not the man I used to be either. Therefore by the grace of God go I.

1 John 4:7 Dear Friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
