Tyler Colvin and the Cubs lose

File this one under: This was bound to happen:

The Cubs blew a 4-0 lead last night, and Tyler Colvin was shipped to Iowa for a box of peanutes. Only two of those things are true, and I bet you have no problems figuring it out.

I haven't seen who is getting called up yet, but it probably won't help the Cubs much this season. Colvin was doomed when Kosuke Fukudome started playing well. I've always drawn a comparison to Jeff Francoeur. They both have good power, but not much of an eye at the plate.

Of course, Frenchie is playing well with the Royals after bouncing around the league for a few years. Maybe Colvin can work on his eye and turn into a quality 3rd/4th OF type. Who do you guys think should get the call?

  • They called up OF Tony Campana who, despite being just 5'8", is still remarkably adept at avoiding the base on balls. Good speed and hits for average though, probably just a pinch-runner, pinch-hitter. At least he's not a big prospect they can ruin by gluing him to the bench.

Cubs need to start trading some outfielders to make room for Colvin and eventually, Brett Jackson.
