Pumpkins, Parties and Franken Plaza: Chicagoween 2012

Pumpkins, Parties and Franken Plaza: Chicagoween 2012

The month of October has crept up on us which means that Halloween is right around the corner. I'm excited mainly because this is Go-2-baby's very first Halloween. We will more than likely do the usual trick or treating in Oak Park with family members, but I also want to take her to a pumpkin patch, petting zoo or some other Halloween festivity as well.

The city of Chicago always has a great line up of activities and events suitable for kids of all ages, adult kids included. I took some time to surf the net and pull together a list of the coolest events I could find. Without further adieu, here's the list of fun fall weekend activities in the Chicagoland area during the month of October:

Pumpkin Patches

Each year, the Chicago park districts host pumpkin patches loaded with petting zoos, activities and fun games for the entire family. Prices vary from $1-$3 depending on the day and location. Chicagoween 2012

This is the event I'm most excited about. I remember doing research for a local resource website for parents in Chicago a few years back and reading about Chicagoween. I planned to take my younger sister and a few kids in my family for the past two years, but now I'm definitely planning to attend this year with Go-2-baby. For three days this year, Daley Plaza becomes Franken Plaza, October 26-30, with special performances, a Monster Bash - complete with prize give-aways, hayrides and trick-or-treating!

Entertainment from Midnight Circus, Magic Matt, Dave Herzog's Marionettes, Storyteller Oba William King, the Batbuck$ Game Show and fcbc educational theatre performing Thriller. Plus Arts & Crafts.
