Just last month, we celebrated National Celiac Awareness Day to help spread awareness of celiac disease, a genetic autoimmune disease that is on the rise. The University of Chicago Celiac Research Foundation is doing their part this weekend by offering a free celiac blood screening. Starting at 10:30am on Saturday, October 15th, there will be a panel of experts taking questions from the audience as well as exhibitors showcasing gluten free products. This screening is for people at risk for celiac disease, so a brief phone consultation is required to determine eligibility.
If you have a family history of the disease or experience symptoms related to celiac, go with your gut and get tested. Your digestive system will thank you :)
