Insure.com's list of least and most expensive vehicles to insure

June 21, 2017 (Foster City, CA) –Insurance.com is out with their annual rankings for the least expensive vehicle to insure. Topping the list is the Honda Odyssey LX (average rate $1,112); three-and-a-half times cheaper than the most expensive car to insure, the Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG. Granted these two cars are hardly comparable; for instance, just take pricing: Honda Odyssey MSRP: $29,850; compared with the MB S65 AMG: $247,900!

The most expensive vehicle to insure last year was the Dodge Viper, now in second place. What helps the Odyssey grab this honor is the fact that it is a safe vehicle, most often driven by parents, and also has high dependability ratings. 2017-honda-odyssey-frontside_htody1701

Dominating this year’s top 10 ‘inexpensive’ vehicles to insure include various Jeep models, including Jeep Compass 2WD 4-door (5), Jeep Cherokee Sport 2WD 4 door (7), Jeep Patriot Sport 2WD 4 door (8). Known for their adventure preference, insure.com surmises owners may be less likely to report/claim every scratch or ding. Fewer claims and responsible driving mean lower car insurance rates.
