Exxon Mobil Corp. is taking the lead in offering sax-sex marriage benefits to legally married couples in the U.S. for the first time starting this week. The company will recognize “all legal marriages” when it determines eligibility for health care plans for the 77,000 employees and retirees in the U.S.
This applies to the gay employee that has been married in a state where gay marriage is legal. His or her spouse will be eligible for benefits with Exxon in the U.S. as of October 1.
This is great news for those who have needed healthcare coverage for their partners.
On another note, Exxon has had some unauthorized individuals, of late by using the Exxon Mobil name and logo in e-mails and on web-sites. They have attempted to solicit up-front fees from interested job seekers. Exxon does use recruiters and placement agencies on occasion to help identify potential candidates for specific positions, but never at the job seekers expense. So beware of this if you are contacted regarding a job.
As with all recruiting and placement firms, you as a job seeker should never pay fees when applying for a job. A legitimate recruiter gets compensated by the company who they were hired by to find a job candidate.
