Product Review: Gravity Board Games - Guest Blog by Clayton Faits

My husband and I love board games.  Two years ago, we went on a date to the Chicago Toy and Game Fair.  There, we met some lovely gentlemen from Gravity Board Games.  We tried their products (while eating Toblerone).  I decided then and there that I’d be buying some Gravity Games for my geek guy.... Product Review: Fire and Blood, Brewery Ommegang's Game of Thrones Red Ale

My relationship with Game of Thrones beers started over a year go.  In March of 2013, Brewery Ommegang released Iron Throne Blonde Ale.  I reviewed it.  Then came Take the Black Stout, and the epic launch party by Lakeshore Beverage.  Now, the Daenerys Targaryen in me is most pleased. Fire and Blood Red Ale has... Read more »

3 Affordable PC Games I Can't Stop Playing

Thank goodness- it’s finally above freezing here in Chiberia- er, Chicago.  My workplace closed for two days during the big chill.  This allowed me to make HUGE progress on my wedding.  I also got to put some quality time into my favorite activity of all: sweet, sweet video games. At long last, I got a... Read more »

Product Review: The Force Collection, Star Wars Nail Polish by Frakker Lacquer

It’s a shame that I’m an anxious nail biter.  Whenever something stresses me out, I chomp my nails right off.  So, when Alyssa from Frakker Lacquer reached out to me for a review, I panicked!  My nails were down to stumps (still are).  Thankfully, I have some lovely friends who were willing to be photographed.... Product Review: The Summer of 199X, Earthbound/Mother 2 Nail Polish by Rainbow Honey

Geek-themed cosmetics can be hit or miss.  Sometimes, it seems like companies just attach unrelated series and character names to products for a sales boost.  Rainbow Honey is refreshing.  Their nail lacquers are clearly created by fangirls, from the perfect Squirtle blue to the exact hues in Rainbow Dash’s mane.  I was asked to test their... Product Review: Avengers Cologne by JADS International

Mark VII - Iron Man<p> "A pleasant citrus initial smell, but pretty quickly smells like soap."<P>"Citrusy, clean... a little musky, a little metallic. I bet this would make a guy feel manly."<p>"This reminds me a bit of Old Spice."<P>4/5
As you may know from my Twitter, gentle reader, I’ve been hard at work on cosplay for C2E2.  Tonight, I oh-so-gracefully RUINED my entire Elizabeth jacket with my serger.  I freaked- full on panic attack- so I guess it’s time for a sewing break.  While I decompress, here’s a long-anticipated product review:  Avengers Cologne by... Product Review: Iron Throne, Ommegang's Game of Thrones Beer

When Brewery Ommegang announced its Iron Throne Blonde Ale, I admit- I rolled my eyes.  I usually don’t go for promotional gimmicks.  However, I’m fond of Ommegang, I watch Game of Thrones, and I really like drinking.  Curiosity won out. I bought my first bottle on its Binny’s release date- 3/14.  I should have written the... Read more »

Shire Sausage and Hobbit Holes: The Hobbit Menu at Denny's

The Hobbit Menu was its own document. We didn't bother taking the standard menu- we knew what we wanted: high-calorie goodness with elf and wizard names attached! We ordered everything except for the smoothie, milk shake, and Dwarves' Turkey Dinner.
If you haven’t discovered the Denny’s Hobbit Menu yet, please… enlighten yourself.  When I first heard about this crazy film tie-in, all I could do was cringe.  Everything on the menu sounded, well, sexual.  What, you think I’m kidding?  Just read some of these names aloud: Hobbit Slam. Shire Sausage. Hobbit Hole. …to be fair,... Read more »
