I'm in Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire mode again. The Season 5 trailer leaked, and in response, HBO officially released the thing. So sexy! Lots of characters are missing, but I'm satisfied. A TV show can only follow so many plotlines, you know?
Anyway, the trailer motivated me to work on my Daenerys Targaryen cosplay. Readers of Geek Girl Chicago know that I frequently portray the Khaleesi at live events. Now, I'm on the market for some dragons.
I brought 3, tiny figurines to the Valar Morghulis beer launch party. They're cute, but not big enough. I require a more menacing Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion.
As I currently have no day job, I've had lots of free time to search with. I've scoured eBay and Amazon for toys, art, even lawn ornaments. I still haven't found the perfect babies to my Mother of Dragons.
What I HAVE found is a slew of really strange dragon merch. The fantasy community must love this stuff. Hundreds of options are out there, from jewelry to housewares. Many are cool! A few are... distressing.
For your entertainment, here are some of the weirdest dragons I found. I will NOT be buying any of these for my Daenerys cosplay. Maybe you want them, gentle reader?
If you know someone who makes really cool dragons (or exceptionally terrible ones,) please share below. Also, let me know what you're most excited about in Game of Thrones Season 5. I've been seeing lots of fans backing Lady Stoneheart. I wish, I wish, I wish!!
I'll be sure to let you know when my next Daenerys appearance will be. I just got cast as Dana Scully for February's Adler After Dark with We Are Cosplay. So, maybe my next gallery will be about aliens. ;)
