Two of my favorite places to hang out are about to double in scope. Get ready, gamers! Chicago's Headquarters Beercade (currently in Lakeview) AND Emporium Arcade Bar (currently in Wicker Park) are getting second locations.
Headquarters Beercade is launching store number two in River North. Its opening is scheduled for Spring 2014. I hope the date sticks! It would mean a wedding day after party for me. ;) Not much else about HQ2 is known. Fans of Headquarters already love their free play machines, but are hoping for perks like a kitchen and later hours in the new space. We'll see... (Headquarters Official Site * Facebook * Twitter)
Emporium Arcade Bar is opening up a second set of doors in Logan Square. Apparently, zoning signs spilled the beans for observant fans. Ha! This location will be slightly different from the first. According to Emporium's website, the "new location is bigger and there is a reason for that: BIGGER GAMES!" Expect pool, foosball, bubble hockey, and other table games at the Logan shop. No date has been announced, but Emporium offers a mailing list HERE that will surely keep us all posted. (Emporium Official Site * Facebook * Twitter)
Both original locations will stay open. Obviously, though, there are still a few secrets to be told. I can't wait! Watch my Facebook and Twitter for breaking updates. If you hear any news, or if you'd like to share a favorite geek hangout of your own, post below. Game on, geeks!
