Halo 4 comes out at midnight. The reviews are stellar, but I've been a little shocked by the amount of people claiming it will be "more fun" than waiting in line at the polls. People. Seriously. Vote. Vote. VOTE VOTE VOTE!!
...*ahem.* Now that that's out of the way, here are a few things to do with your week, aside from deciding America's future:
TONIGHT, Monday the 5th
Marvel vs. DC Town Hall Debate - This heated rivalry goes back further than Obama/Romney. In collaboration with the Chicago Nerd Social Club, the folks at Third Coast Comics will be hosting this battle. Go in-costume (or not) and vote for your champion of comic book publishing. Questions for the "candidates" are being accepted on Facebook. There will also be a used comic swap, so gather up those tired paperbacks. RSVP on Eventbrite, and get over there in the next hour! (7PM, Third Coast Comics, 6234 N. Broadway. FREE.)
WEDNESDAY the 7th
Time Crash Showcase - If you haven't checked out the Doctor Who-inspired band Time Crash yet, there's really no excuse. I've posted about them 3 times!! Listen to their Little Amelia EP, then see them live at this gig. Wednesday will mark their first 18+ show- adult Wholigans only! The Heartland Cafe also has great food and drinks, so if you get tired of waving your Sonic Screwdriver and dancing, you can just chill and enjoy. (Wednesday, November 7th, 9PM. Heartland Cafe, 7000 N. Glenwood. $3.)
THURSDAY the 8th
Who Got Glitter on My Controller? - Local burlesque diva Stella Cheeks is a friend of Geek Girl Chicago. She was there for one of my very first blog entries. Now, she's co-leading her own company- Plan 9 Burlesque. Yay! This group of geek chic gals has found the perfect performance partnership in The Nerdologues. Who Got Glitter on My Controller? is billed as a cabaret-style evening of comedy and sexy shimmy-shaking, all with a video game theme. Just head up the stairs over Fizz Bar, and prepare to be entertained. I'll be there! (Thursday, November 8th, 8PM. Pub Theater, 3220 Lincoln. $15, get tickets HERE.).
...Oh, and if you'd rather stay at home on the computer, Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome premieres online this Friday. You can watch it on the Machinima Prime YouTube channel. I'm a bit concerned that the lack of publicity means a lack of quality, but maybe it will be a sleeper hit. It's possible, right? RIGHT?!
Sigh. Just go vote, and hope that neither Presidential Candidate is secretly a Cylon.
