Feeling the post-con blues after C2E2? Feeling the pre-con jitters before ACen? Great news! It's going to be a fun, sexy GEEKend! Here are 3 options to keep your geek fix going:
1. CODCON - Get your D20s ready! Each year, the College of DuPage Sci-Fi/Fantasy Club holds CODCON- a 3-day gaming convention. Collectors can bring their decks for Yu-Gi-Oh! and Star Trek CCG tournaments. Lovers of the classics can enjoy Risk, Settlers of Catan, and more. You can also sit down for a finely-crafted Doctor Who RPG adventure or WoW starter deck demo. The coolest part just might be the Board Game Library. Of course, there will also be standard convention fare- vendors, viewing rooms, and a costume contest. Game on. (Friday, April 20th - Sunday, April 22nd, College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd, Glen Ellyn, Turner Conference Center. $5/day, $10/weekend)
2. Team GEEK Hambingo - Who is Team GEEK, you ask? They are a local Relay for Life team with proton packs, a Doctor Who scarf or two, and a traveling knit duckie. What is Hambingo, you ask? It's a weekly charity game of bingo with a few twists: burgers, margaritas, and a sassy drag queen! Why does Superman blatantly display powers that seem to disappear in the next issue, you ask? Guys, I don't know. Just play bingo. It benefits the American Cancer Society. (Monday the 23rd, 7-9PM, Hamburger Mary's, 5400 N. Clark)
3. Superboobs: A Superhero Burlesque Adventure - Gorilla Tango Theater and MsPixy are back with yet another nerdy burlesque- Superboobs! This time, the geek girls are shimmy-shaking through the comic book world. Audiences will be taken hostage by a very sexy Joker and Harley Quinn. You know what happens next. ...I hope. If not, er, Google it. (Saturdays, April 21st - May 26th, 10:30 PM, Gorilla Tango Theatre, 1919 N. Milwaukee, $20)
