It's the weekend Chicago geeks have been waiting for: C2E2!!
The Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo will take over the McCormick place on April 13th, 14th, and 15th. The event brings together comic artists, authors, entertainment stars, and local icons. It's easy to get overwhelmed! As a start, here are a few things I'm looking forward to:
Anne Rice - Legendary author of The Vampire Chronicles. If you prefer Lestat over Edward Cullen (AND YOU SHOULD), she's your woman.
Sean Astin - Played the ever-loyal Samwise Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings films. His hobbit journey moved me more than Frodo's. WEEPING.
Neal Adams - Batman's dad. No, seriously. This guy put an end to campy, silly Batman and introduced the dark, brooding hero we love.
3 Fan Events:
Chicago Ghosts presented by The Chicago Ghostbusters - A presentation on our fair city's spookiest haunts, and how they connect to the Ghostbusters films. (Saturday the 14th, 11:45, Variant Stage.)
The Games Industry in Chicago - A panel of local developers discusses Chicago's growing role in video game creation. (Sunday the 15th, 1:15, N426c)
Costume Contests - Talented geeks strut their stuff in home-made costumes. It's so awesome!!!! ...OK, I'm biased; I'll be dressing up. (Friday AND Saturday, 6:00, Variant Stage.)
3 Wild Cards
Sci-Fi Speed Dating - Looking for love in Alderaan places? Single guests can meet a bunch of eligible geeks, and then get right back to the Dealers' Room. You may have seen this company on TLC's Geek Love. Male sign-ups are filled. Ladies, have at it.
Humans vs. Zombies - Team-building mini-games of epic zombie slaughter. See for yourself.
CBR Bar - I don't know. But, uh. These drinks. Man, I LOVE being an adult.
Tickets will be available on-site: $35 for 1 day, $65 for the weekend. I'll be there Saturday (dressed as Rogue from the X-Men) and Sunday. I can't wait to meet some readers! :)
