TechWeek for Geek Girls

Blogs are buzzing with talk of TechWeek.  Media Tech Connection has a great writeup with general information about the conference, which goes until Friday the 29th.  You know the drill.  It's a week of technology in business and entrepreneurship with events, panels, discussions, etc.   THE Craig (as in CraigsList) is in town, as are the founders of GrubHub.  ...but what is there for a Geek Girl?  If you're signed up for tomorrow's SPARK Women Conference, congrats- online sales are closed!  For the rest of us who are lazy and/or lacking $75, try one of these:

1. #LadiesHackNight - This gathering takes place every Thursday, but this one promises to be particularly meaty thanks to TechWeek.  Here, the ladies of ThoughtYouKnew provide a safe place for female programmers, coders, hackers, developers, designers, and friends to chill.  Projects are worked on, ideas are exchanged, friends are made.  What better week to stop in than this one?  Thursday the 28th, 6:00 PM at The COOP, 230 W. Superior, Suite 2F.

2. Ignite Chicago - A wave of 5-minute presentations by Chicago's bravest and brainiest.  Past girly topics have included body image, bras, boys, babies... and samurai swords.  You can bet TechWeek will inspire tales of technology and business.  There's stuff for Geek Guys, as well!  Check it out- Thursday the 28th, 7:00 PM at the Catalyst Ranch, 656 W. Randolph.

3. Women 2.0 Founder Friday - The week concludes with a networking mixer attended by some startup-savvy ladies.  Meet the founders of Dress Me Sue and Sassy CEO.  This event is geared toward founders of start-up companies, but would be great for any of you simply aspiring to get there, too.  Curio at Gilt Bar is the place- 6:00 PM on Friday the 29th, 230 W. Kinzie St. Don't forget to RSVP!

Get on it, geek girls.

Too hot for TechWeek?  Stay tuned- I've called upon some Geek Girl friends to review popular t-shirt websites.  The best Star Wars, Firefly, and Doctor Who gear is coming your way soon. :)
