"Gardening Nude" is a metaphor. It describes a way of life which allows many to live a happier, more satisfying, and less materialistic lifestyle.
Striping away the excuses, the emotional baggage, the stress, and tending the garden which is your life is just the beginning of what gardening nude is about. It is also living greener and healthier, both mentally and physically, by practicing positive lifestyle choices. An important component of the gardening nude lifestyle is building community - both personally and in the business world - which focuses on doing good for humanity.
When you choose "gardening nude" you choose sustainability over wastefulness. You choose friendship and helping neighbors over solitude. You choose nature and sunshine over chemicals. You choose helping the world instead of hurting it. You choose being less materialistic instead of being more selfish. You choose being satisfied over forever wanting more. Gardening nude means to live more simply.
In 2008, Shawna Lee Coronado coined the term "gardening nude" based on where she first discovered it; when gardening in her self-built community garden. Then, utilizing the same name, she published a green and simple living guidebook titled, Gardening
Nude
Shawna began the Gardening Nude Blog in the same year. She hoped to share simple living tips and helpful green lifestyle information for the everyday person. Within months the blog had thousands of followers from over 20 countries following Shawna's inspirational ideas.
Gardening Nude the blog joined the amazing Chicagonow.com blog team on December 31, 2009. Old posts are still located at http://gardeningnude.typepad.com - although this older site will be phased out shortly.
