HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all of the maternal types out there, including Shawna
Coronado who so kindly turned over the reins to her blog to my questionably
capable hands on this auspicious occasion. As the title suggests, I am writing
this completely naked. Now before you lose your Mother's Day brunch crepe, allow
me to explain.
When I received my copy of Shawna's "Gardening Nude" I fully expected to
flip through its pages and put it aside after a few minutes. By the end of the
day I had read it from cover to cover and the already close bond I had with her
found itself forged in steel.
The concept, for those who haven't yet read it (shame on you!) is not
that you should actually garden naked, unless you are into that sorta thing, in
which case who am I to tell you how to water your lilies? The concept is about
stripping away the unnecessary, the added, the contrived, and giving it
(gardening, work, family, whatever) the whole, unaltered and unadulterated
you.
Put everything you've got into everything you do and you will be amazed at
what comes your way. Shawna and I have both learned that lesson well and it is
one of the reasons that we have become such close friends.
No matter how stressed you are, no matter how short your time or how long
your to-do list, make a promise to yourself today that starting tomorrow you
will greet the day with everything you've got. Without pretense or expectation,
and without adornment.
Give it 100% pure you.
