Love at first site. I came upon this chair last Saturday at an estate sale in Kenilworth. This was the same sale I blogged last week because of the well-mannered way the company, McDrew, conducts business.
What a house. Built in the 20's, it was designed for entertaining, so when you walked in the front door, there was a curved staircase up, a large living room to the left and the dining room to the right. Up a step was the music room with an old stone tile floor.
My favorite space was the butler's pantry, big as a modern kitchen, but lined with floor to ceiling cupboards. These held the champagne saucers, silver place card holders and endless accessories for sparkling evenings.
So do I need a new chair? I need this one. It's well made. The springs are tight. It's comfortable, the price was right ($27), and I can reupholster it myself when the right fabric turns up. In the meantime, we'll enjoy the vintage romance of the chair, owing to the grand old place it came from.

That's one of the things I love about going into those grand old homes with all the lovely entertaining pieces. I like to imagine all the parties they had that were affairs to remember!:)Heidi
