This is the QE2 of sales---huge and well known for the luxury goods that are donated to the oldest and one of the highest grossing church sales ever. The Christ Church Winnetka sale takes place this Thursday, October 1st, from 7 am to 3 pm.
As in years past, there will be furs and things that shine, and a tsunami of furniture so that a larger tent was needed, according to rummage organizer Charlotte McGee. The sale is organized by departments in two buildings and three tents on the church grounds. Departments include everything imaginable from china, hardware, women's dresses and coats, even a gift boutique.

Last year's sale brought in $140,000, according to McGee. Church volunteers expect just as large a crowd on Thursday, so be prepared for a few lines.

Directions for getting there via public transportation:
The Winnetka Metra station is .19 miles from Christ Church
Via the CTA, take the Purple Line to the Linden station in Wilmette. Transfer to Pace bus #423, which will let you off at Elm and Maple, which is .11 miles from Christ Church.
Driving directions from Lake Shore Drive or the Edens/I-94:
From Lake Shore Drive, continue north on Sheridan Road through Evanston, Wilmette, Kenilworth and into Winnetka Sheridan Rd. One mile past the "Village of Winnetka" sign at the border of Winnetka, turn left onto Oak Street. Go four blocks down Oak to Maple Street. The Chapel will be on the far left corner of the intersection.
Via the Edens Expressway: Take the Edens north to Exit 33B (Willow Road - East). Follow Willow approximately two miles to a T intersection at Green Bay Road in Winnetka. Turn left onto Green Bay and then take your second right onto Oak Street. The Chapel is two blocks down Oak on the right.
