Birmingham Barons Season Preview

Our season preview series continues today with the Barons. Will they be able to recapture the magic of their 2009 season, or will they more resemble the disappointing 2010 team? The Birmingham Barons are the Double-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox and they compete in the Southern League.   2010 in review: After a... Read more »

JPNese 7/4

So, the Barons didn’t suck so bad this week.  I’m not going to gush about splitting a series with Mississippi, but it’s better than my previous prediction.  The week didn’t start out so well, losing the first three games and looking bad doing it.  Throw in a rainout on Tuesday, and things looked bleak yet... Dash, Intimidators have rosters full of All-Stars

Brandon Kloess has been a knockout reliever for the Intimidators this year posting a 1.16 ERA with 39 SO/6 BB in 31 innings out of the Kannapolis bullpen. Kloess is an older guy (25), so it's tough to know what to make of him as a prospect, but the numbers are certainly impressive.
With a 40-23 record it’s unsurprising to hear that the Winston-Salem Dash have several players named to the Carolina League All-Star team, but the Kannapolis Intimidators’ 30-33 record is rather less impressive, yet they have several All-Stars of their own.

How good is the Winston-Salem offense?

The Winston-Salem Dash have been the hottest team in the White Sox organization and one of the hottest in all of the minors. The reason, for the most part, is their incredible offense. Dash hitters have the top five spots in batting average among Sox minor leaguers. They also moved to new BB&T Ballpark this... Read more »

Hot and Cold 4/29-5/5

This weeks ‘Hot and Cold’ features a myriad of poor offensive performers from the Kannapolis Intimidators and a top pitching prospect’s return to form.

Justin Greene's GREAT catch

Justin Greene’s great catch for the Winston-Salem Dash. Watch and enjoy. Hat tip to larry at SSS for bringing this to my attention. While I’m here I may as well give a Justin Greene update. The speedy center fielder has made a great start to the season and is hitting .328/.438/.627 (1.064) through his first... Read more »

2010 FutureSox Preview: Centerfielders

The White Sox have named their 25-man roster for Opening Day and they’ve played their last game in Glendale. Our season preview series is also coming to a close. We finish by taking a look at the centerfielders of the minor league system. It’s a deep group of talented athletes. Best prospect: Jared Mitchell 2009... Read more »
