Scouting report
Ravelo was seen as somewhat of an overdraft and like most high school draftees was considered quite raw. He's got excellent hand-eye coordination and potential to develop power. So far with the bat, Ravelo has made that hand-eye skill work, showing consistently strong contact rates and hitting for high average in Kannapolis (.292 average over parts of three seasons). The power hasn't developed yet, but Ravelo has showed progress. In his 2011 stint in Kannapolis, only 9 of his 51 hits went for extra bases, all doubles. In 2012 that improved, with 24 of 84 for XBH. 2013 with Winston-Salem showed the most improvement, but that came with the fact that moved from third base to first. To go with the power improvement, he produced a good walk rate for the first time as a pro. In 2013 Ravelo started the year again in Kannapolis after not playing after July 3 in 2012, when he left for undisclosed personal reasons. 2014 was his best season as a pro. Ravelo displayed a high batting average, good walk rate and decent power while making the jump to AA.

Major League Outlook: AVG/OBP-dependent 1B, possibly platoon partner
