Griffith was drafted as a high upside arm out of high school in Florida, but Tommy John surgery in 2008 has slowed his development. He currently has a 92-95 mph fastball and an occasionally sharp curveball. Griffith dropped his nasty slider after the surgery to lessen the strain on his elbow so now his curve is his top off speed pitch. The key to his success going forward will be if he can develop his curve and his change up, which has a ways to go. Griffith showed decent control in A ball, but he hasn't been able to handle the jump to AA. He is yet to have a full healthy season. He won't be moving to the 'pen anytime soon, but if he can become more consistent with the curve and doesn't improve his change up he could profile as a reliever down the road.
