Scouting report
The Canadian born Blanke was an afterthought when drafted, but immediately turned heads in 2010. He was fantastic for Great Falls offensively (.329/.400/.508), but more importantly impressed scouts with his defensive ability behind the plate. Baseball America says he has a plus arm and moves well enough. He has good power and has made good contact in the low minors, though he only has a mediocre walk rate. Blanke slumped with Kannapolis after a strong start, but his value is that he plays catcher well enough to stay at the position. There shouldn't be a major burden on his bat to carry him to the Majors.
