Scouting report
Gonzalez is a good defensive catcher, but his bat has been disappointing since he hit .311 with Bristol in his US debut in 2009. He has a very good arm and likes to show it off; he threw out 50% of basestealers in 2010 and isn't shy to try to get a pickoff. With that said he isn't completely polished behind the plate. He had 10 errors and 8 passed balls in about 40 games behind the plate in '09. Gonzalez has the physical ability to be a great defensive catcher and already is a good one. Offensively, he hit over .300 against both lefties and righties at Bristol, while drawing a decent walk rate and showing gap power. However, he has struggled in full season ball, hitting just .218 with Kannapolis in 2010 and .255 with Kanny in 2011. Scouts believe he can build upper body strength to add power, but don't expect him to become a 25-30 HR threat. Gonzalez is one of the more intriguing young prospects in the White Sox system, but has to improve offensively.

Major League Outlook:
Potential to be a good defense-first catcher
