Scouting report
When drafted, Heidenreich was viewed as a very raw high school prospect, but the California native has made steady improvements as a pro thanks to a reportedly strong work ethic. Currently, his fastball is a low 90s sinker, but given his frame adding velocity is a realistic possibility. His change is becoming closer to an average pitch. He also features a slider, but it is his third best pitch. Heidenreich showed his improvement last season with a strong showing for Bristol (76 IP, 2.49 ERA, 58 K, 11 BB) and has been decent for Kannapolis in 2011. He is a good control pitcher, but will need to develop his change or slider further to be able to get more strike outs. Projecting him is extremely difficult right now because he won't be a good prospect unless he continues to improve, but he has the makeup and projectable body to do so.
