6/10 recap: Grant Buckner has 6 hits in doubleheader

While the draft signings are starting to flow in, the four full-season affiliates continued the grind. Birmingham was off Tuesday, but Winston-Salem had a doubleheader to make up for it. A pair of strong pitching performances and a big day from a minor league veteran highlight the day's action.

Columbus 14, Knights 2

Micah Johnson 0-4, E
Carlos Sanchez 1-4, SB #10
Marcus Semien 0-4, 2 K
Jordan Danks 1-3, HR #9, BB, K
Matt Davidson 1-4, HR #10, 2 K
Charlie Leesman 3 IP, 8 R, 7 ER, 1 K, 4 BB, 9 H

Jordan Danks and Matt Davidson hit back-to-back home runs in the second inning, but strangely that was all the offense the Knights mustered in a lopsided loss.

Dash 8, Wilmington 2

Tim Anderson 1-3, 2 K
Jacob May 2-3, SB #13
Courtney Hawkins 2-4, K
Grant Buckner 3-3
J.B. Wendelken 7 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 K, 1 BB, 3 H

Dash 6, Wilmington 5 (8 innings)

Tim Anderson 2-4, K
Jacob May 1-4, SB #14
Courtney Hawkins 1-4, 2 K
Jason Coats 2-4
Keon Barnum 1-3, 2B, BB, K, E #11
Grant Buckner 3-4, 2B, HR
Jefferson Olacio 3 IP, 0 R, 2 K, 0 BB, 3 H

Savannah 3, Intimidators 2

Hunter Jones 2-5
Tyler Shryock 2-5
Trey Michalczewski 1-5, 2 K
Christian Stringer 2-4
Robinson Leyer 7 IP, 0 R, 9 K, 0 BB, 4 H

Leyer, listed as 21 years old, has had a strong year for Kannapolis, although other than ERA his stats don't impress much. He has a 3.16 ERA with 43 K and 21 BB in 62.2 IP.

Star of the Day: Grant Buckner

Not exactly a household prospect name, but you can't deny a 6-7 day in a doubleheader. Buckner went 3-3 in the opener and 3-4 in the finale, including his second home run of the season. This season the 26-year-old is hitting .276/.317/.405.
