I'm a happily married wife and mother of six daughters whose ages range from pre-K through adult. I love writing, teaching fitness classes, and motivating others to lead healthy lives. I am proud to have earned my undergraduate and graduate degrees from DePaul University in Chicago in English ('96) and Writing ('99), in addition to an earned graduate degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from the California University of Pennsylvania in 2007.

I first became introduced to the world of fitness at Chicago State University after promptings from my mother that I could go in and sub a Step Aerobics class for an instructor who bailed at the last minute. I myself had just begun to exercise after having my fourth daughter and really thought she was crazy because I'd never taught a group fitness class in my life. Well, I did it, and my life was forever changed!

Since then, I have gone on to teach fitness classes for Bally Total Fitness, the YMCA, the Health Fitness Corporation, the City Colleges of Chicago, St. Xavier University, the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, and was an original member of the X-Sport Fitness Performance Team, a highly energetic group of diva-like fitness phenoms! Plus, I have even been blessed to teach water fitness and yoga in Jamaica several times for the Sunset Jamaica Grande Resorts and Spas.

My part-time passion would eventually become my life's dream to the point that I would walk away from my career in college administration to pursue fitness full-time. With no previous exercise science background, I would go on to receive certifications from the following organizations:

  3. International Sports and Conditioning Association and BFit University Personal Training Kick Box Workshop in 2004
  4. American Council on Exercise Personal Training in 2005

  7. X Sport Fitness Certified Core Commotion Instructor Program, 2005

Then after achieving all of that, I lost it all.

My marriage of 10 years was ending and everything that mattered most to me seemed to slip through my fingers. Add to that the fact that I was promoted from being a healthy lifestyles teacher into administration as a Dean of Students for a South side charter school where it didn't "look good" for leadership to take days off, so I couldn't attend any fitness conferences, and all my certifications expired.

I spent a long time  being so mad at myself for losing all that I'd worked so hard to achieve, and my blood pressure, weight gain, and Crohn's disease which came flying out of remission showed my bitterness and anger to be true. Although I didn't admit it, or even think it, I was depressed, overwhelmed, and forlorn. I didn't know what to do with my life.

After two years of wandering in the wilderness like the Israelites on their journey from Egypt to the promised land, the Lord sent a message of hope once again using the same person He had in the past--my mother. She had gone to her neighbor's house to a Challenge Party and knew that the 90-Day Challenge was the answer I'd been seeking. I, once again, thought she was crazy. And once again, I learned, my mother was right.

Since then, my mom, my husband, and I have all had amazing transformations due to the Body by Vi 90-Day Challenge. One small step of adding the nutrition from The Challenge into my life, sparked a fire within me that gave the courage to once again live my dream. It first began by me taking The Challenge and getting myself back into shape, in the BBV Challenge offers the simplest, most effective system I'd ever seen-and with over ten years in this industry--I've seen a lot! But the Challenge is the path of least resistance to health consciousness and just what I needed, and the millions others who have joined the Challenge in the US, Canada, Jamaica, and now in the UK as well. I am so happy to share that earlier this year, I took the Aerobic and Fitness Association of America's Group Exercise Instructor training and certification exam and successfully passed, which has since unleashed my passion for fitness, health, and wellness unlike ever before.  My dream of modeling a fit and active lifestyle for women all over the world, and helping others improve their health is back in action.  I am today's underdog back on my climb to the top. And we all know, the world loves the underdog. (Cue Rocky music here!)

Now that I have achieved this one feat, there is no stopping me. I will live the life of my dreams, forgive myself of past hurts and mistakes, and celebrate each and every day that God gives to me.

Teaching fitness, writing, exercising, loving my family, and loving God are my passions. I have a dream of showing the world the beauty and benefit of worship workouts that are unlike no other. I can't wait to see all the ways God is going to use me to help people with their temples, and I awaken each day with vigor and enthusiasm.

If you have health and fitness goals and need help achieving them, I'm your person, no matter the city or state you're in.  I know how it feels to have to take pills for hypertension and other illnesses, not be able to fit anything in your closet, be mad at yourself for making dumb and/or huge mistakes, and just be unhappy with the skin you're in.
