Chris Rolfe did not participate in training this morning due to the ankle injury suffered last Thursday. His status for the Seattle match this weekend is still up in the air but it doesn’t sound good. “We’ll see. He’s day by day and he’s not out here. He doesn’t have any swelling but there’s still... The Fire have announced a contract extension for Patrick Nyarko. Terms of the deal were not disclosed but the 26 year old’s current MLS deal expired at the end of the 2012 season and the club felt it was important to retain him going forward. Whether playing in midfield or as a forward Nyarko was... Read more »
Good news on the Patrick Nyarko injury situation. The extent of the injury is apparently just a bad bruise and he was able to resume training this morning. Nyarko expects to be available for the Thursday night match in Portland. The team is en route to Portland to resume training tomorrow.

I talked with Patrick about a wide variety of topics including his reaction... Read more »

In a medical move that no one saw coming, Fire forward Brian McBride will have surgery on his right shoulder to repair a labral tear this afternoon. The word is that McBride, who has... Read more »
Well, I can’t say I saw that one coming. After 89 minutes of play in a game full of twists, turns, penalty kicks, yellow cards (and, gasp, even a red!) the Chicago Fire’s 10-game unbeaten streak looked to be coming to a close. League leaders Chivas USA were up 2-1 and (although they were down... Read more »
Thought I’d share a piece that Maria Burns Ortiz wrote for Soccernet about Fire players Bakary Soumare, Patrick Nyarko and Baggio Husidic. Although it’s a bit old, the article does a pretty good job of providing some info about these players’ remarkable rise from adversity/obscurity to the MLS. I found the write-up on Baggio Husidic...
