Another late goal and another loss. Montreal defender Daniel Lovitz bounced a volley into the net in the 91st minute of play to hand the Fire their eighth consecutive loss in league play and essentially put a stake through the heart of any playoff hopes.
Ignacio Piatti converted a penalty kick in the 6th minute after a foul in the box by Bastian Schweinsteiger resulted in an early attempt from the spot.
Nemanja Nikolic tied the game with a follow up shot of his initial try in the 70th minute but it wasn't enough to salvage a result in Canada.
The 2-1 defeat, combined with other results drops the Fire to the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
