Fire lose Brimstone Cup match to FC Dallas

The Fire dropped to 6-10-5 on the season following at 3-1 loss to FC Dallas. Playing without Bastian Schweinsteiger, Dax McCarty, Nemanja Nikolic, and Aleksandar Katai to start the game, the Fire seemed to be sacrificing this match with an eye towards Wednesday night's US Open match against Louisville City.

Brandt Bronico scored the Fire's only goal in the 86th minute of a lackluster effort. Drew Conner was shown a second yellow card in the 70th minute with the game still only 1-0.

Fire lineup

Sanchez; Conner, Kappelhof, Campbell, Vincent; Tchani, Adams; Collier, Bakero (Bronico 46'), Johnson (Katai 58'); Gordon (Campos 77')

Sub not used: Cleveland, Nikolic, Corrales, Dean

  • Guillermo, any guesses when del Grecco will be on the team? TIA

  • Putting it out there that I'm ready to eat up news of Joe Mansueto and what his degree of involvement will be, and how much say he has in the workings of the Club.

  • In reply to BrianC.:

I'm sure you've loads of good company there. I'm also interested in any knowledgeable news on the significance of the acquisition of Nicolas Del Grecco. I would guess the current near silence on both issues reflects the lack of significant intelligence and the wait for more information to become available. But you, I and probably most of us who read these pages are (I'm sure) all checking in multiple times daily, watching for news.
